MY JOURNEY SO FAR!

Setting up Penny Lemon is one of the best but scariest decisions I've made so far (with a little encouragement and lots of help along the way). If I'm being honest, it's been an emotional roller coaster ride; with some days questioning if I can create a successful company and other days worrying if I'm doing it right! What is right? What is a successful company? Why am I doing it?: These were only a few of the questions that were spinning around in my head before I held my breath and took a leap of faith. I thought about it for a long time. What's important to me? Spending time with my family, happiness, creative fulfilment, home life balance, showing my daughter that you can achieve your dreams if you try. I also had a little voice in my head (I named her Peggy) saying "What if no one likes what I do? what if I can't sell anything? You can't run a business! You're terrible at writing blogs! You can't do it! it won't be perfect".

For as long as I can remember I felt that I needed to get things 'right' and it had to be 'perfect'. One of the many things that I've learned over the over the last 6 months, is that it's not about it being right or perfect. It's ok to be scared about about trying something new and being out of your comfort zone because it's the lessons we learn from the amazing journey, the little achievements! As I mentioned earlier writing anything really scares me. Here are some of the reasons why:

1. People might not like what I write. I'm boring, I don't have any interesting stories to write about.

2. I might spell words wrong or use incorrect grammar, and my customers might find that unprofessional etc. A friend pointed out that it wasn't important if I spell a few words incorrectly, it's not going to harm anyone.

So, you're reading my blog, I've rewritten it at least 100 times and it's taken me all day (thought about it for about 3 days). You might have liked it, you might not, there (their) might even be a spelling mistake but hey! No-one's 'perfect' and I hope you can forgive me!

WHAT IS PENNY LEMON?

In simple terms, it could be decribed as a paper goods and gift company, but in reality, it's much, much more! It's the start of an amazing journey, someone who had a dream but never had the courage to pursue it until now. It's a company that's going to make a few mistakes (hopefully not too big!) because that's sometimes the only way you learn. I don't know what the future holds for Penny Lemon but one thing I can promise is that I'm going to give it everything I can and enjoy the ride. Along the way I hope I can inspire my daughter (and anyone else thinking of trying something new) and courage her to follow her dreams. If that's her dream of training unicorns to fly, then if she believes in herself anything is possible!
